Summer and Vacation Programs

Note: Effective 6/1/2010 we are temporarily suspending summer and vacation programs for school-age students. We are still offering summer preschool programs. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Science Express offers a 1-hour science class for school-aged children that are enrolled in a childcare program. We provide all the materials and a trained instructor for this supply-intensive FUN science experience.

Our programs work well for vacation and summer programming. Choose from any of our classes to coordinate with your themes. Multiple sessions are available on the same day to accommodate large groups. (Maximum of 25 students per session)

These programs are designed for students entering grades 1-5. Some of the programs can be adapted for younger students too. You may also want to visit our Preschool Programs page to see our Preschool Science programs, which are offered year-round.

Program Guide

	Blast Off! Have a blast learning about life as an astronaut in this outer space adventure. Students will transform into human gyroscopes, release squealing rocket balloons, and help launch a water-bottle rocket outside! *Note: Includes outside activity*
	Junior CSI Learn all about the science of forensics in this fun class. Students will learn how to take fingerprints, identify mystery liquids using chemistry, and analyze a ransom note through the help of chromatography.
	Machine Madness Students will learn about simple machines while building a model crane. Students will also learn about energy and velocity as they race cars down a track! Everyone makes a level to take home too!
	Magic Science Learn about the science behind magic in this fun class. Students will learn how to do a famous balloon trick, make water disappear, and create a slimy potion.
	Rockin’ Rocks Transform into a gold miner in this adventuresome class about geology. Students will pan for gems, conduct several geological tests, and keep what they find. Note: Can be done as a wet or dry dig.
	Super Soap Learn about the amazing properties of soap in this bubbly class. Students will conduct several experiments with soap, including breaking surface tension and observing soap in a hard water environment. Students will also make a soap ball and their own bubble solution.
	Yummy Chemistry Learn about chemistry by eating and drinking your science experiments! Students will make edible molecules, lemonade soda, and homemade ice cream! Bring your sweet tooth to this class!
Fees and Policies Program Fee: $175 for the 1st class + $150 for additional classes King County Travel Fee: $25.00 Max. No. of Students: 25 per class (extra sessions can be added) Deposit: $50 per day (P.O.s, checks, and credit cards accepted) Inclement Weather Policy Science Express will make all reasonable efforts to conduct our program on the date it is scheduled. However, if driving conditions are unsafe, we will need to reschedule the program. We will contact you on the program date to discuss other arrangements. Cancellation Policy Please notify us at least 14 days prior to the program date if you need to cancel any classes (including additional classes on the same day) Otherwise, a $50 cancellation fee will be assessed. There is no fee to reschedule a class.
